REGISTERED THEATRE PRACTITIONER

competent in

ANAESTHETICS, RECOVERY & SCRUB

to join our team of staff at the

BMI CARRICK GLEN

hospital in

AYR.

This post is for an average of 33 hours per week, working 12 hour shifts on a rota basis. The department is open 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday. The successful candidate will also be required to participate in the department on call rota.

It is

essential

that applicants are fully qualified Theatre Practitioners who meet the following criteria:

Current NMC or HPC registration

Up to date knowledge of relevant theatre practices with the ability to work wi! thin local and national guidelines, i.e. SIGN, QIS and NMC Cod! e of Practice

Awareness of the NMC Code of Accountability

Applicants should also be competent in all skills required for working within the theatre department of an acute care hospital

Duties of this role include:
Providing quality planned care for patients during their peri operative phase of care.

Supporting and assisting in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department.

Assembling, checking and preparing the appropriate anaesthetic / surgical equipment, drugs / consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of anaesthesia.

Co-ordinating the use of the supplies and equipment during the operating list

Ensuring equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner.

Being aware of and complying with all infection prevention and control policies and ensure best practice is maintained to ensure low infection rates.
