The breast imaging research team inNinewells Hospital and Medical School works across the University and NHSTayside to advance knowledge and clinical imaging practice related to thedetection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
An opportunity has arisen for a post-doctoral scientist to take a prominentrole in the conduct and co-ordination of a recently funded breast imagingresearch project. The project, “Medical Imaging Markers of Cancer Initiation,Progression and Therapeutic Response in the Breast, Based on Tissue Microstructureâ€(short name: the “MIMIC†study) is in partnership with Professor David Hawkes’group at University College London and Professor Sarah Pinder at King’s CollegeLondon. Dundee is the primary clinical site with Professor Andrew Evans as lead,and Professor Luc Bidaut, of the Division of Imaging and Technology, astechnological lead.
! Based in the Division of CancerResearch, Ninewells Hospital a! nd Medical School, the post holder will join a multidisciplinaryteam working on a range of breast imaging-related projects. The job involvesworking closely with lead and co-investigators, along with other staff, toensure successful project outcomes.
Applicants should hold a PhD in computer science, physics, engineering or a related discipline, and must also demonstrate a genuineinterest in clinical medicine or the biomedical sciences. Expertise in and direct experience of the principles,applications and tools of biomedical imaging, will be required; in particular,candidates should have a good understanding of ultrasound imaging.
