Adult Inpatient and Forensic Service
Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre - Hamilton
The Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre provides inp! atient care for people suffering a mental illness. There are two major service areas of care: adult and forensic.
The centre is a 108 bed mental health facility serving a population of more than 355,000 across the Waikato DHB region and the forensic service covers the wider Midland region which encompasses the Lakes, Taranaki and Bay of Plenty DHBs.
Our emphasis here at the HBC is treatment that focuses on rehabilitation and integration with the community. We blend psychological therapies with educating and teaching valuable work, practical and social skills. Our clinical team takes an open, informal and friendly approach to supporting service users; casually dressed and personable, putting the emphasis on building relationships with users to support their recovery.
We have group rooms used for art and wood work activities, recreation rooms, pool tables, a marae and a sensory room where we build sensory profiles for clients to provide therapeutic ! approaches to relaxation. We have massage chairs, coloured and! subdued lighting, weighted blankets, and resources to evoke calm during therapy. In our beautifully tended gardens, service users can get involved with gardening and partake in outdoor sports and activities.
We offer full time, part time and casual positions to enable a good work/life balance. We are committed to educating, developing and supporting our nursing team. We offer individual designed orientation programmes to all new staff which include personalised professional development and education plans, a buddy system, preceptorship programmes and clinical supervision. Recent redevelopment has also given us new and refurbished facilities and service improvements.

- are a NZ registered nurse with a current practising certificate that includes a scope of practice for mental health
- have a minimum of 12 months post registration mental health experience is essential.
