This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the Open University's Pre-registration Nursing Programme across Scotland. The University has thriving and longstanding partnerships with NHS Boards to deliver nurse education and professional development. We are committed to supporting NHS Boards to widen access to nurse education and the Staff Tutor role is central to this objective. Working collaboratively with stakeholders from the health and social care sectors, you will provide academic leadership and represent the Open University on national and local strategic groups. You will work with Staff Tutor and Faculty Co-ordinator colleagues, to line manage a team of associate lecturers and practice tutors, be responsible for quality assurance processes and maintain the standards of excellence for which the Open University is renowned.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated registered nurse with a first degree or a relevant post-graduate qualification in a subject area relevant to nursing. You will have a professional qualification in nursing and be currently registered with the NMC. You will ideally have an NMC recordable teaching qualification or achieve this within two years of commencing employment.
You will be expected to have significant experience of practice education and be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of current issues in nurse education. You will have a proven track record in negotiating, influencing and managing people. You should be able to demonstrate flexibility, high-level communication, team working and organisational skills and a commitment to collaborative working across organisational boundaries.
This post is based in Edinburgh however, travel throughout Scotland and to other parts of the UK is an essential part of the role.
