Childline is a helpline service for children and young people who contact us about a wide range of issues. Our trained counsellors, made up primarily by volunteers and supported by a team of staff, provide support over the phone, by email and through 1-2-1 chat. Childline is a 24 hour, 7 days a week service and is open for children and young people 365 days a year.
As a Volunteer Co-ordinator you will promote the positive involvement of volunteers in the Childline helpline, and lead on the co-ordination of recruitment, training, development and retention of volunteers in all areas of our work.
You will be primarily supporting volunteer recruitment and retention activities in our Liverpool base, alongside working as part of the national Volunteer Co-ordinator team.
You will have significant experience of co-ordinating the work of volunteers including their recruitment, selection, training, support and retention, and of meeting targets set around these areas. In addition, you will have a sound knowledge of current research and recommendations relating to volunteer issues and have the ability to prioritise, plan and organise tasks and activities effectively. You should also be strongly committed to the work of the NSPCC and Childline and our aims.
The post holder will be required to be flexible and work some unsocial hours to meet volunteer related operational need. There will be opportunities to work from home, but there will be a requirement for the post holder to be based in the office.
We are looking for a candidate with a can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate, a drive to succeed and who has an awareness of the Childline service.
