Shortleet interviews are scheduled to take place on 4 October 2013 The school supports the learning of children from Primary 1 to Primary 7 as well as having a nursery class. After Primary 7, the children would normally progress to Musselburgh Grammar School. The school building is divided into two parts; the single storey early years block and the two storey upper school. Between the two lie the school offices and the school hall. Wallyford Primary School is a non-denominational and the school roll is currently 238. The schools staffing is currently 1 Head Teacher, 1 Depute Head Teacher, 1 Principal Teacher, 1 Learning Support Teacher, 8 Class Teachers, 1 teacher and 1 assistant behaviour support officer for the SEBN provision, 1 Nursery Teacher, 1 Nursery Nurse, 3 Classroom Assistants, 1 Auxiliary and 2 Playground Supervisors. Job Details Purpose of the Job To conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Executive Director of Education. Major Tasks The role of Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Executive Director of Education.
The Head Teacher shall be accountable to the education authority for the following list of duties and for such other duties as can reasonably be attached to the post:
 responsibility for leadership, good management and strategic direction of the school
 to work in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and schools
 ! responsibility for school policy for the behaviour management of pupils
 the management of all staff and the provision of professional advice and guidance to colleagues
 the management and development of the school curriculum
 to act as adviser to the Parent Council and to lead in the selection and appointment of the staff of the school
 the management of financial resources
 to promote the continuing professional development of all staff and to ensure that all staff have an annual review of their development needs
 to manage the health and safety of all within the school premises
