Closing date is midnight on Tuesday 10 December 2013 Interviews will be held on Wednesday 18 December 2013 The Post Applications are invited for the post of Grade 4 Support Assistant - Reception within the Dementia Services Development Centre, School of Applied Social Science. This is a busy office committed to improving services for people with dementia and their carers. It provides information, development, training, publications and consultancy to any planner or provider of services to the statutory, volu! ntary and private sector in the UK and beyond.
The po! st holder will provide administrative support in a range of areas, with the main focus being on reception. You will be an experienced receptionist with well-developed customer relationship skills. You will have responsibility for providing an efficient and friendly reception service for all DSDC users. The University Stirling was the first new university to be established in Scotland for nearly 400 years, created by Royal Charter in 1967.

About Us The DSDC http://www.dementia.stir.ac.uk exists to extend and improve services for! people with dementia and their carers. It provides education, change m! anagement, information, training, publications and design consultancy to any planner or provider of services to the statutory, voluntary and private sector in the UK and internationally. It is located in the Iris Murdoch Building on the University of Stirling campus, an example of a public building designed on dementia-friendly principles.
There is also a branch office in Belfast. The Centre is supported by a charitable Trust, and has a wide range of sources of funding. The director of the Centre is Professor June Andrews. The dedicated DSDC team includes staff from health care, local authority, and independent sector backgrounds, and employs a wide range of associates from those sectors including architects, engineers, nurses, doctors, social workers and others.
The DSDC Organisational objectives are: ⢠To make available information on research and practice on all areas of dementia care, including emerging problems, issues and populations ⢠To ! assist in the development of a confident and competent workforce in working with people with dementia and carers ⢠To support research, evaluation and the development of evidence based practice in the delivery of services ⢠To support the development of innovation in services with people with dementia and carers and providers of services ⢠To promote the improvement of quality and standards of service jointly with people with dementia, their advocates and carers and those agencies charged with quality improvement and ensuring standards Description of Duties Applications are invited for an experienced receptionist with well-developed customer relationship skills. The successful applicant will have responsibility for providing an efficient and friendly reception service for all DSDC users, assisting visitors and callers to the Centre. Duties will include taking bookings for tours of the Design & Technology Suite and providing administrative support for DSDC events, incl! uding registering delegates, making information packs and badges and in! putting evaluation forms. An important element of the post requires inputting and updating of customer data on the DSDC customer database.
The post is located within the Iris Murdoch Building, University of Stirling, Stirling. Previous experience of reception duties and strong communication skills are essential. Applicants should demonstrate that they are capable of working to set objectives and managing competing demands within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities ⢠Provide a reception service, both face to face and on the telephone, fielding all calls, taking messages, processing book sales and offering information on DSDC services, events and publications.
- Assist with conference suite and meeting room bookings and arrangements, including setting up furniture and equipment. Take bookings for tours of the Design & Technology Suite and basic maintenance of equipment, such as changing batteries. ⢠Provide an admin support service includin! g typing, bulk mailing, stationary purchasing, receiving and organising deliveries. ⢠Maintain customer database, inputting and updating information.
- Provide administrative support for DSDC events, including registering delegates, making information packs and badges, setting up conference furniture and inputting evaluation forms.
